Up, Up, Up and a Yurt!

And we have achieved our first structure on the property! Well ok, it is a temporary structure, or as the state of Washington likes to refer to it "a transient non-community accomodation".  Yup, our yurt has arrived!  If you haven’t seen one of these structures yet, check out the link I have listed under related links or click here

It is such a simple yet elegant structure to assembly and goes up quite quickly. We actually got to our storage unit in Granite Falls and had it loaded in the truck within 45 minutes (of course we had to weed through the rest of the storage items piled in there to fish it out from the back).  Then, we arrived at the land at 3pm knowing full well that we only had until 6pm when we’d lose our light (still getting a wee bit dark towards the early evening, but the days are growing longer!)  So, the pictures you see are the progress shots starting at 3pm and ending right around 6pm (you’ll catch the waning light).  That’s right, it only took 3 hours to assembly it all together.

Now, of course, the next step is bringing all the accessories up for the inside so that we can actually stay there.  I’ll be doing that this week in preparation for our weekend of burning that is coming up.
