While the cat’s away, the boys will play (or stain corners)

This weekend was not without its activity at our construction site.  Glenn and Tim spent the weekend there finishing up staining of the corner pieces.  While our first floor is completely “logged”, the second floor is framed.  However, it will be finished with log siding and these special log-siding/corner combo pieces.  You won’t be able to tell that the second floor is not all logs! (Ok, so you blog readers will know).

It was also a weekend of extra helpers with our friends Joe and Terry showing up as well as Barb, who has been helping us for many weekends.  So, with the siding done they starting in on the tongue and groove pieces that will be used for the soffits of the house (that’s the part under the overhang of the roof).  Those pieces get stained with the same external stain, but then the rest get stained with the other interior color, “dark honey” for lining the ceiling inside the front room.

Good work, boys!  J

Thanks for stopping by my space.  I would love to some day make it up to the northwest. Our company keeps hinting at opening up a yard in Seattle area, so perhaps someday.  I have a friend that has asked me a couple of times to go on hiking trips out your way. It has never worked out however that I could go.
Loved the pictures of the pasture you created. The log house you are building must be stunning.  Can\’t wait to see the finished project.
Thanks again for stopping by.  Come back again anytime.
